    Advising
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) youth comprise roughly 40 percent of the homeless youth population in New York. Despite growing acceptance of homosexuality in America, LGBT youth are too often rejected by their families and forced to make it on the streets, where they are at higher risk of substance abuse, physical and sexual attacks, disease and HIV, and mental illness and suicide. Through interviews, photography, poetry, and statistics, this book aims to bring awareness and visibility to this tragic crisis, largely ignored as the gay rights movement focuses its goals on marriage equality.
