    Michelle Shofet

    Profile

Michelle Shofet is a visual artist & landscape architectural designer based in NYC. She is Co-founder of Nocturnal Medicine, a nonprofit design studio dedicated to building spiritual resiliency in the face of ecological crisis. The studio creates collective experiences, spaces, & media centering climate grief, environmental justice, & healing. Nocturnal Medicine has been celebrated in The New York Times & Bloomberg’s CityLab as bringing a cutting-edge, soul-centered approach to addressing the climate crisis & its psycho-emotional impacts.

Shofet’s creative approach is informed by her formal training as a landscape architect. Prior to initiating her own practice, she worked as a landscape designer at Snohetta. She has presented her work at The New Museum, The Brooklyn Museum, & universities across the country. She has designed & produced immersive social experiences across diverse platforms, including in nightlife (Nowadays, Gospel), cultural institutions (Lincoln Center, Opus 40), & academic spaces (MIT, Harvard, Yale).

Shofet has been teaching at Parsons School of Design since 2018, and is a part-time lecturer teaching Sustainable Systems.
