Melanie Hendel is an artist and architectural designer. She is the founder of Passaparola, LLC, a non-traditional architecture + body research studio based in Los Angeles and New York. The studio focuses on experiential design, working with varying teams: art directors, creative technologists and athletes to create performative built environments.
Prior to Passaparola, she worked on hospitality projects and the Lowline (Underground park) for RAAD Studio and Smith-Miller+Hawkinson (Crossing of Aesthetics, Van Alen Institute). Melanie worked in Paris for Studio Briand & Berthereau on a new construction museum in Baud, FR ; a series of exhibitions ; and furniture pieces. Melanie has developed experiential design projects for NIKE, Google Android, The Museum of Modern Art, Burningman, Target, Pepsi, Johnson & Johnson, General Electric, Kiehls, Clinique, L’oreal, Sam Edelman, Boss by Hugo Boss, Pat McGrath Labs and MAC. She worked on the Empowerhouse Project - a design/build zero-net energy passivehaus for the US Department of Energy Solar Decathlon Competition (2011).
