    Lucia Cuba (Peru) explores and constructs garments as performative and critical devices, at the intersection of fashion design and social science. As a fashion designer and public health scholar she is interested in issues of gender, health, biopolitics and global fashion practices. Her interdisciplinary works transverse international spaces of contemporary art and fashion. Together with her practice as a fashion designer and entrepreneur, she has also developed projects concerned with fashion, activism and education, research on fashion design and politics, and the study of non-western fashion systems. Lucia has received several awards for her work including the Fulbright Scholarship (2010-2012), the Design for Development Award at the Iberoamerican Design Biennale (2012) and the Han Nefkens Fashion on the Edge Award (2014). 
     
    Her work was recently showcased at the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York, is currently on view at the Centre d’art la Panera in Lleida, at the Museo Amparo in Puebla, at theOCT Art & Design Gallery in Shenzhen and will be showcased in September 2016 at Bric Arts Center in New York. She received an MFA in Fashion Design and Society from Parsons, holds a BSc in Social Psychology and did graduate MA studies in Educational Psychology and PhD studies in Public Health at Cayetano Heredia University.

    PROYECTO GAMARRA

    An activist-design project that aims to raise awareness among designers, students, firms, neighbors, local authorities and consumers on the importance of conceiving the Gamarra Commercial Emporium (Peru).
