Madeline Schwartzman is a native New Yorker and a long-term faculty member at both Parsons and Barnard College, where she teaches in the Barnard and Columbia Colleges Architecture Program. Schwartzman recently published See Yourself Sensing: Redefining Human Perception (Black Dog Publishing, London) the first book of its kind to explore the relationship between design, the body, the senses and technology. The book launched in June 2011 at Work Gallery in London, and in September 2011 at Eyebeam Art + Technology Center and at Barnard College in NYC.A graduate of the Yale School of Architecture, Schwartzman makes films and videos, writes and teaches. Her films have screened at festivals in the US and abroad, including the Ann Arbor Film Festival, the Florida Film Festival, the Walker Art Center's Women with Vision Festival, and festivals in Seattle, Philadelphia, Cape Cod, Palm Springs, Eureka and San Francisco She also wrote, produced and directed a feature-length comedy film called Aphrodisiac and has recently completed her first novel.Schwartzman teaches foundation-level interdisciplinary design and drawing at Parsons.
