Profile
Hayes Slade, AIA, believes in the catalytic potential of design for people, communities, and societies. Her work spans scales, designing and delivering projects that are innovative and impactful: her smallest project was a 42" doghouse that won an AIA National Small Project Award and her largest is currently a series of strategic activations throughout an sprawling corporate campus.
She co-founded Slade Architecture in 2002, with her partner, James Slade. In order to contribute to the public realm, Slade Architecture has been part of the NYC Design Excellence Program for over ten years. Hayes serves on the board of Grace Farms Foundation, and the advisory committee for Fashion Institute of Technology Interior Design Program. Additionally, she is active in the broader design community through her role in the working group of the Design for Freedom initiative, as an Architecture Fellow with Design Trust for Public Space, on the advisory board of Madame Architect. Hayes has been actively involved with the NY chapter of the American Institute of Architecture for many years and served as AIANY President in 2019.
