    Derek Weiler studied painting and art history in Stuttgart, Germany. He received his MFA from Hunter College in New York and a PhD in art history from the Institute of Fine Arts, NYU. Since moving to New York, he has been featured in exhibitions both here and abroad, and was awarded a Pollock-Krasner grant in 1999 for his painting. He has been an artist in residence at Yaddo, and most recently held the position of Chester Dale Fellow in art history at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He lectures at Parsons The New School for Design and maintains a studio in Bushwick, Brooklyn.

    Research Interests:

    Minimal and post-Minimal art history and theory, with an emphasis on post-War serialism in music, performance, dance and the visual arts.
