Assistant Professor of Fashion Design
Jasonpaul Mccarthy is an accomplished fashion educator, designer, and adviser regarded in the industry for his invaluable contribution in creating and implementing academic visions, design briefs, creative projects, collections, and manage teams. Jasonpaul Mccarthy, is currently the Director of the Associate Degrees (AAS) in Fashion Design and Fashion Marketing at Parsons School of Design, The New School, in New York. Previously, he held the role of Program Director for the BFA Fashion Design program at Parsons Paris. Jasonpaul was instrumental in established the groundwork for launching a new global operation and fashion program and school in Paris. Jasonpaul Mccarthy obtained his BA in Fashion Design with Marketing at the University of East London and an MA in Fashion Womenswear at the prestigious Royal College of Art, London. Jasonpaul has over ten years of international experience in academia, by teaching at a number of institutions such as AIU, UEL and SCAD that have taken him to major fashion cities such as London, Paris and New York. He first started as a designer in London and later moved to the US to establish himself as an educator and scholar. Jasonpaul has been instrumental in developing curriculums, creating new courses and providing academic leadership. He is heavily involved with school accreditations through NASAD and Middle State. He has had the opportunity to teach many courses across fashion at various levels (pre-collage/collage, Undergraduate and post-graduate) and recruited, trained and managed a new faculty teams that is committed to excellence in teaching, research and service. He is invited to give talks and workshops around the world in countries like Japan(Tokyo), Mexico and China (Beijing, Chengdu and Shanghai).
As a consultant, Jasonpaul specializes in working with established businesses as well as fashion start-ups, he has a deep commitment to ethical and socially responsible fashion. Jasonpaul serves as an editorial manuscript consultant, and peer reviewer for Bloomsbury Publishing. His reviews and interviews have been included in a number of books, publications, and online articles such as, Sourcing and Selecting Textiles for Fashion, Vanity Fair, WWD and more. Throughout his career, Jasonpaul has established collaborations by working on projects with major designers and brands such as: LVMH, Kering and Vogue. In his leadership role, he has coordinated many events, exhibitions, fashion shows and built an active network of internships and job placements with companies such as Isabel Marant, Marc Jacobs, Hussein Chalayan, Club Monaco and Ellie Saab. Jasonpaul has built opportunities to work with videographers, photographers and production teams during RTW, Haute Couture and Menswear Fashion week in Paris, London and New York due to connections with companies such as Twotwenty production and Indigital media.
As Jasonpaul has lived and worked in Europe, the U.S and China he understands the unique challenges and opportunities of integrating and delivering fashion education in different cultures, environments and the local and global impact. Jasonpaul has developed close ties with the international fashion community, academia and the new generation of fashion designers and marketers worldwide.
