• Profile:

Sandra Arndt is a designer and educator whose early career brought her from northern Germany to the
trading floors of London and New York City. The focus and precision gained there were valuable skills for
her later transition to the field of architecture, and in 2007 she received a Master of Architecture from
Yale University. She also holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from San Francisco’s Academy of Art University
and a Master of Economics from the University of Würzburg.
In 2011, Sandra founded the design firm Studio AKTE. Her practice designs, constructs and
manages architectural projects on various scales, including urban planning, programming, site selection,
building design, interiors and exhibition design. Sandra believes in visual communication through
images, drawings and models, and sees drawings in particular as tools that interface between ideas and
the work that emerge from them.
She currently teaches the senior design studio at the School of Constructed Environments and
School of Design Strategies at Parsons The New School.
Sandra’s experience contributes to her wide range of expertise, and is enhanced by a passion that grew
out of learning to observe and communicate in the diverse work and life environments she’s inhabited
around the world. Sandra currently lives and practices in New York City, where she enjoys being
surrounded by people, art and architecture.
