Faculty, First Year
After completing his bachelor of technology degree in Computer Engineering from Thapar University in Patiala, India, Piyush Wadhera taught himself French using self-help books and the Internet. He came to France on an exchange program to pursue a degree in Music and Musicology from the Paris-Sorbonne University in 2006. Since then, Wadhera has obtained two M.Phil.s in Musicology and in Art History from the same university. He is currently submitting his PhD thesis in Art History in the French language from the Sorbonne, addressing the representation of music composers in 19th century France between the birth of the photographic and cinematographic industries.
Wadhera previously worked as a Research Officer at the Institut National d'Histoire de l'Art (INHA), Paris, as well as in different tech startups as a product manager for networking and telecommunication services.
He has also directed documentary films including The Dignity of Labour (2006), which is about his month-long experience working as a cycle rickshaw puller in India. Wadhera continues to edit and translate documentary and feature films that deal mainly with issues of immigration and integration.
A performance artist and writer, Wadhera has shown his work as part of the VIP selection at the FIAC Paris in 2014 (Salvia Divinorum - Fécondation en cinq actes), and was the inaugural speaker at the Delhi Photo Festival in 2013.
He has also performed as a musician at the Silencio, New Morning, and other stages
