Faculty, Art, Media & Technology
Mathieu Merlet Briand graduated from the Ecole Nationale Supérieur des Arts Décoratifs in Paris in 2013. He continued his studies in the research cycle at EnsadLab, the EnsAD Research Laboratory. A digital native from a farming family, Mathieu is interested in the influence of technology on the perception of our contemporary reality.
Environmental issues recurrently emerge from his projects (see his solo-show "#iceberg" 2017, "Environment" 2017). Inspired by the philosophical essay of Ariel Kyrou, "Google God", 2010, he questions this almost divine image associated with the giants of the web (see the exhibition "non-site" from the Dauphine Prize for Contemporary Art 2016).
Mathieu Merlet Briand has participated in numerous solo and collective exhibitions in France and abroad, including: the Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art at the New Tretyakov Gallery, Art Geneva, the YIA Art Fair at the Musée des Arts et Métiers and Variation - New Media Art Fair at the Cité International des Arts.
