Associate Professor of Fashion
John Bauernfeind holds an MA in menswear from Central St. Martins and a BFA in womenswear from the Parsons School of Design. His professional background includes over sixteen years of design experience that encompasses a broad range of markets where he held lead design positions in the US and Italy in companies including BCBG, London Fog and Pollini AEFFE S.p.a., as well as providing design consultancy for trend and forecasting companies Stylesight Inc. and Donneger. He is currently Menswear Design Coordinator at the School of Fashion at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. As an educator, Bauernfeind has many years of experience, teaching at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and the Academy of Art University, where he was the graduate director of fashion design. Most recently he served as Associate Professor and Chair of Fashion Design at California College of the Arts. He has taught across a range of courses covering menswear and womenswear design, construction, fashion drawing, portfolio presentation, and fashion forecasting on both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
