Profile:
Jason Livingston, IALD, IES, LC, LEED Green Associate is the principal of Studio T+L, LLC, and is an accomplished lighting designer with over 20 years of experience in architecture and theatre. His work ranges from offices and libraries to historic buildings and unique installations. His designs have been profiled in Lighting Design + Application, Lighting & Sound America, Architectural SSL, and Design Bureau magazines. Awards for his work include the IES Award of Merit, Lumen Citation, and International Illumination Design Award. He is the author of Designing Light: The Art, Science and Practice of Architectural Lighting (Wiley, 2014) and co-author of Design Guide for Color and Illumination (IES, 2017).
In the classroom his emphasis is on light as a design medium that supports the interior design, creates an appropriate environment, and affects users perception of a space. The goal is for interior designers to understand lighting design to better collaborate with lighting designers. He has taught lighting design at New York University and Fashion Institute of Technology. He currently teaches at New York School of Interior Design, Pratt Institute, and Parsons The New School For Design.
