Alexis Romano is a historian of 20th-century fashion and visual culture with a focus on fashion imagery, and everyday and subjective aspects of dress. She is currently working on exhibition projects and developing a book on the development and image of prêt-à-porter (1945-1970), and how it connected to France’s project of postwar modernisation and constructions of national and gender identities.
