    Don Oehl’s career in the arts began when he studied dance at the Chicago Academy for the Performing Arts. His interest in visual arts led him to Paris—where he studied drawing and painting at the Ecole du Louvre.

    He was hooked, but his wanderlust and desire for fresh creative energy drew him to downtown New York City in 1995. The vibrant mix of haute couture, downtown street fashion and graffiti greatly influenced his illustrations.

    After studying Fashion Illustration at NYC’s FIT, Don landed a job with a point of purchase design company, where worked on point of sale and window displays for clients like Aveda and Bergdorf Goodman. From there he moved to publishing, working as an Art Director at Condé Nast.

    Don developed his illustrations, finding them to be the ultimate way of expressing himself through fashion, movement, shapes, color—all with a wink.

    On September 8, 2011, Don had a very successful solo show at Clic Gallery in SoHo and was featured in a group show entitled “Fashion Illustration, A Contemporary Look” at the Brooklyn Library in 2012.

    Don continues to gather inspiration from his surroundings as well as artists like Rene Gruau, Patrick Nagel, Kenneth Paul Block, Dondi White and John Luke Eastman.

    Clients include: A. Smith (Japan), Acuvue, American in Paris Broadway 2015, Bulgari, Chanel, Domino, Elle, Elle Decor, Flare, Glamour, Harper’s Bazaar Art (China) Harper Collins, Huffington Post, InStyle, L’Oreal, Madame Figaro, POP (Denmark), Penguin/Doubleday, QVC, Scholastic, Staples, Sunglass Hut, Target, TeenVogue, W, Vera Wang and Victoria’s Secret Beauty.
