Dr. Lisa Litt is a Clinical Psychologist specializing in integrative treatment for substance misuse and traumatic stress. She is currently teaching Introduction to Substance Abuse Counseling and Advanced Issues in Substance Abuse Counseling, part of the curriculum in the Concentration in Mental Health and Substance Abuse Counseling in the MA in General Psychology at NSSR. Dr Litt helps to oversee the Concentration.
Formerly, Dr. Litt served as the Clinical Director of the Trauma-Focused Programs at Mount Sinai St. Luke's Hospital in New York, a specialty program for women and men grappling with histories of childhood and/or adulthood trauma and addiction. She continues to hold an appointment at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Litt previously taught Victimology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
Dr Litt has been consultant, trainer and clinical supervisor on numerous psychotherapy studies funded by the National Institute of Drug Abuse and National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, exploring effective treatments for postraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and co-occurring substance use disorders. Her co-authored book, Trauma Services for Women in Substance Abuse Treatment, provides guidance for substance abuse clinicians to become better prepared to treat their clients with co-occuring PTSD.
Dr. Litt also maintains a private practice in New York City, specializing in the treatment of PTSD, particularly related to sexual assault, and problematic substance use. For more information about her clinical and consulting practice, please visit: www.drlisalitt.com.
