The New School for Social Research is excited to welcome you to a rigorous and engaging 2020-2021 academic year. Our community is defined by high-level teaching, learning, and research on today’s most pressing issues — work that has grown even more urgent. In classes, world-class events, and more, we are committed to offering you the academic and co-curricular experiences that help you both develop as scholars and practitioners, and make progress toward degree completion.
Key Features
- All NSSR courses will continue as usual, running the full 15 weeks of the fall semester and meeting once a week.
- You will be able to study and work closely with our dedicated faculty members in classes and one-on-one during office hours. As always, our Academic Affairs staff and student advisors are available to help with guidance, advising, and any other questions.
- As part of our vibrant student community, you will be able join and lead student organizations, reading and research groups, and conferences, as well as develop new ones together with your peers.
- The Dean’s Office, academic departments, and interdisciplinary centers are planning a busy calendar of online keynote lectures, talks, and book launches. Likewise, the Graduate Center for Professional and Career Development will offer skills-building workshops, networking events, careers fairs, and one-on-one advising sessions.

We are so excited to welcome our incoming students to The New School for Social Research! You will be able to take all of the necessary courses as you begin your degree program. We will send the latest information on orientation, fall courses, and more to your New School email addresses.
Spring 2021 course registration will open on December 7. Please contact your student advisor with any questions.
Continuing Students
We extend a warm welcome back to all continuing students! You will have every opportunity to take the courses you need to move forward in your degree program, including required courses.
