• Welcome to MS Strategic Design and Management Online

You are now part of a distinguished community of innovative change-makers and chaos pilots. Your fellow students are a lively and diverse international group from different business sectors and cultures, and your experience here will be enriched by the resources offered by a unique university.

In the MS Strategic Design and Management program, you will find a comprehensive and innovative course of study. Our highly competitive program promotes a paradigm that fuses economic rationality, business logic, and organizational reality with design thinking for design action. The resulting new dynamic of “design intelligence” enables participants to develop skills vital to the disciplines of design and management, innovation, leadership, entrepreneurship, and intrapreneurship:

    • Critical thinking and abductive reasoning
    • Qualitative and quantitative analytical competencies
    • Abilities to generate constructs, concepts, and frameworks
    • Abilities and methods for interdisciplinary collaboration and value creation

Participants learn to apply and leverage these competencies in a new economy that is shaping today.

Online students will take part in video meetups coupled with a robust multimedia learning management system (LMS) that has mobile capacity, as well as live stream and video-recorded lectures. Seminars will be conducted online. Through the My.NewSchool.edu portal, students have access to robust cloud-based tools, an online library linked to top libraries and databases with ample digital copies of all the textbooks needed for the program, and a suite of platforms including Adobe Creative Cloud and Lynda.com for students and faculty.

The hybrid online/on-campus studio curriculum requires online students to come to New York two times during the program, once during Integrative Studio 1 and again for Integrative Studio 2, during the January winter break. During the on-site sessions, students collaborate for five days in New York City on our Greenwich Village campus with the rest of the online cohort and our team of faculty. This intensive five-day immersion takes advantage of the international urban center as the backdrop; learning is dynamic and collaborative and includes workshops, urban safaris, and active primary research. Extracurricular activities and meetups are planned throughout the week with the on-campus community of students and faculty.

We look forward to working with you and welcome you to Parsons.
