Music Director, The Glimmerglass Festival since 2013, conductor, Metropolitan Opera since 1998 and Artistic Director, The West Australian Opera 2012-2014. Acting Music Director, New York City Opera 1995-1996 and conductor 1987-1998 where he led over 60 performances including the world premiere of Hugo Weisgall's Esther (1993) and the American premiere of Toshiro Mayazumi's Kinkakuji: The Temple of the Golden Pavilion (1995). Honored with New York City Opera's Julius Rudel Award in 1994. Music Director, New York City Opera National Company, 1991-1998. 2009-2010 season, Maestro Colaneri led the Metropolitan Opera's new production of Puccini's Tosca including the worldwide HD transmission and DVD for EMI. Guest conductor, The Portland Opera, Den Norske Opera, Chautauqua Opera, UCLA and the San Francisco Opera Center. Conducted Verdi Requiem, Berkshire Choral Festival; Handel's Messiah, National Arts Centre Orchestra in Ottawa. A frequent speaker on opera, Mo. Colaneri leads an annual lecture series for The Metropolitan Opera Club and has served as guest lecturer for the Metropolitan Opera Guild and the Los Angeles Opera League. Taught an annual series of Saturday Opera Seminars at New York University. Awarded Certificate for Teaching Excellence, New York University. Director of the Opera Program, Mannes College of Music since 1998.
