Tim Cynova serves as Chief Operating Officer of Fractured Atlas, a nonprofit arts & technology company working with more than 1.3M artists and arts organizations across North America helping them operate more effectively as small businesses and entrepreneurs. Fractured Atlas develops tools to help creatives of all stripes raise money, ticket and track their fans, insure and protect their activities, find space to rehearse, perform, and exhibit their work; train artists to run for elected office; and work with them to build healthier teams and organizations.
As COO, Tim serves as one part of the organization's four-person, non-hierarchical leadership team and oversees the company's People, Finance, and Operations functions. He spends his days working to create and maintain innovative workplaces -- with a sense of shared purpose -- where people can produce their best work, and thrive. Since his joining Fractured Atlas in 2009, the organization has adopted unlimited days off, launched the Visiting Professionals Series, OkTECHberfest, Waffle Wednesdays, Job Crafting, Objectives & Key Results (OKRs), adopted Anti-racism and Anti-oppression staff and community guidelines, and equipped the office kitchen with five different ways of making coffee. Prior to joining Fractured Atlas, he served as Executive Director of The Parsons Dance Company and of High 5 Tickets to the Arts. He also worked with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and the Association for the Advancement of Arts Education. Tim currently serves on the faculty of the Banff Centre for Arts & Creativity and of The New School. He is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), a trained mediator, a certified Crucial Conversations trainer, and in his spare time, he is an avid bicyclist who enjoys bourbon, burritos, and artisanal donuts.
