    Daniel Neer is a much sought after voice teacher and clinician specializing in the development of young singers in all aspects of vocal performance. His past students have achieved success in numerous Broadway productions, touring producitons in America and abroad, and in shows ranging from the Vegas strip and American theme parks to the Cruise Line industry and London’s West End. In addition to a burgeoning private studio in Manhattan, Daniel is currently in his second year on the voice faculty of the Prep Division of Mannes School of Music at The New School in New York City.  He is also proud to have served on the vocal faculties of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in New York City; Berkshire Choral International in Sheffield, Massachusetts; Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio; clinician-in-residence at Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio; and the Mozartina Music Conservatory of Westchester County in New York. Daniel was recently honored with “the distinction of Remarkable Attainment” by Ohio Senate President Tom Niehaus and the 129th General Assembly for his artistic achievements in mentoring young artists in his native state of Ohio, and was a 2012 Inductee to the Dublin Public Schools Hall of Fame for his ongoing commitment to the artistic development of music and theater students throughout the central Ohio community.

    In addition to teaching, Daniel enjoys a uniquely diverse career as a singing actor, playwright and librettist in the performance arts.  He studied vocal music and theater at The Ohio State University, University of Michigan and the Royal Academy of Music in the UK, where he won numerous scholarships and prizes for singing. His diverse range of solo opportunities have included a wide array of venues, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, The Apollo, Guggenheim Museum, Chicago Art Institute, the Morgan Library, and Radio City Music Hall.  On Broadway he has performed in two original companies: the Tony-award winning production of Baz Luhrmann’s La Bohème and the UK’s National Theatre production of Coram Boy, directed by Melly Still.  He has portrayed over 100 roles in theater, opera, operetta and musical theater, receiving critical acclaim for his diverse range of characterizations, and has recorded for Dreamworks, Albany, Newport Classics and Naxos labels.  He is a regular soloist in New York City, having worked with such esteemed groups as Rebel Baroque Orchestra, Metropolis Ensemble, Ekmeles, Two Sides Sounding, Gotham Chamber Opera, Vox Vocal Ensemble, SEM Ensemble, Opera Slavica, Vertical Player Repertory, Trinity Wall Street and Mark Morris Dance Company.  As a champion of new works, Daniel has worked closely as both performer and writer with many composers on projects premiering at New York City Opera, American Opera Projects, Center for Contemporary Opera, Experiments in Opera, The American Repertory Theater, UrbanArias (Washington, D.C.), Harlem School of the Arts, Roulette, ShapeShifter Lab, HERE Performance Space, and The Kitchen, The Tramway (Glasgow), The Lensic (Santa Fe), and Ostrava Days Festival (Czech Republic).  His festival appearances include engagements at Aspen, Bar Harbor, Queens New Music, Brooklyn BEAT, Prototype and Next Wave.

    Daniel is a proud member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), The Dramatist Guild, The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), Actors Equity Association, The American Guild of Musical Artists and the Screen Actors Guild.
