    Facilities Management

  • Facilities Management provides preventive and corrective maintenance and cleaning services for university buildings and grounds and is responsible for developing sustainable building operations and managing environmental health and safety (EHS) compliance. Facilities Management is dedicated to excellent customer service in all aspects of its operations. We invite feedback and suggestions from all members of the university community that will help us make The New School campus beautiful, safe, and sustainable.

    Maintenance and Housekeeping

Maintenance and housekeeping staff are on duty in all New School facilities whenever the buildings are open, keeping them clean and in good working order.

If you see something that needs cleaning or fixing:

Facilities Managements operates an online work order system. All members of the faculty and staff, and residents in university housing, have access to submit work requests. The system also allows users to track the completion of their work orders.

To submit a work order, log in with your New School NetID and password to The New School Work Order System

Note: You must disable pop-up blocking in order to use The New School Work Order system.

    Environmental Health and Safety

Facilities Management is responsible for supporting regulatory compliance for worker safety and environmental protection on our campus based on the ongoing initiatives of The New School's Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) office. Responsibilities include chemical safety, EPA-regulated waste management practices, ergonomic guidelines, and safety awareness campaigns.

The New School is committed to sustainability in all aspects of building operations, especially reduction of water and energy consumption and increased efforts in recycling and composting solid waste. We are actualizing the university’s ongoing promise to reduce its carbon footprint. We played a key role in The New School’s successful participation in the American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment and the (NYC) Mayor’s Challenge to Universities.
