Vinayak Bharne is the director of Design at the award-winning firm, Moule & Polyzoides Architects & Urbanists in Pasadena , California. He also holds a joint faculty appointment at the University of Southern California’s School of Public Policy and School of Architecture in Los Angeles. His professional experience includes numerous strategic plans, new towns, inner-city revitalizations, campus plans and resort villages for private and municipal clients in the United States, Canada, United Arab Emirates, Panama and Mauritius. His work has received several awards from the American Planning Association and Congress for the New Urbanism, and has been widely exhibited and published. A former Asia-Pacific Development Commission Traveling Scholar to Japan, his current research interests include contemporary urbanism in Asia, and the strategic conservation and re-use of indigenous infrastructures within the global water crisis.
