Stephanie (Johnson) Cunningham is a theatre director and educator who currently resides in Brooklyn. Her work as a director splits between her two loves, classical texts and new play development. She currently serves as the Associate Artistic Director of Wide Eyed Productions, a new works company in NYC whose mission is to develop brave, relevant new work. She also directs independently in NYC and regionally.
In addition to teaching at The New School, Ms. Cunningham is the Summer Acting Intensive program coordinator, a program she designed for pre-college students to experience a taste of the rigors and joy of the BFA curriculum of the New School. She also serves as the academic assistant to the MFA Directing department co-chairs.
She is the internship coordinator for Wingspan Arts, a non-profit arts education corporation serving the students of New York City by providing professional teaching artists to supplement and expand their arts education opportunities.
Ms. Cunningham holds an MA from Emerson College and an MFA from the New School for Drama where she was named the Doug Hughes directing fellow. She also has a BA in English and Vocal performance from Anna Maria College and a Classical Acting Certificate from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, London.
