Conversation Groups

English not your first language. Do you wish you had a comfortable place to go to practice what you know and learn new vocabulary and expressions? The Writing Center holds ESL conversation groups twice a month with discussion topics and other activities aimed at expanding students' English speaking and listening skills. The groups are informal and function on a drop-in basis. There is no need to sign up in advance. The only thing we ask is that you come ready to participate. So come chat, meet new people, and have a good time.

Speech Services

An ESL specialist will tutor individual students to help them improve their English speaking skills. You can work on any area of your speaking that you feel needs improvement—daily conversation, pronunciation, vocabulary and slang, presentation help, class participation, etc. Just tell your tutor what you would like to work on. Please indicate your interest in this kind of session by entering "Speech" when you make your appointment. Speech appointments are limited to the standard one-hour length and cannot be extended to two hours.
