THE NEW SCHOOL

January 11, 2012

I am pleased to welcome Paula Maas to The New School as the Associate Provost for Institutional Research and Effectiveness. Paula comes to us from the College of New Jersey (TCNJ), where she supported institutional research and planning in progressively senior positions over a decade, most recently as executive director of the Center for Institutional Effectiveness. Under her direction, that office developed new approaches to data collection, analysis, and presentation, including implementing a new student information system and institutional effectiveness reports to aid strategic planning. As a member of the Steering Committee of the Northeast Association for Institutional Research, Paula has been active in setting the agenda for institutional research among peer institutions nationally.

Paula Maas holds a PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Rutgers. Before working in instutional research, she worked in a variety of teaching, research, and academic administrative positions.

Our thanks to the search committee, the deans, and all who helped us to recruit such an exceptional individual to lead our own institutional research and effectiveness operation. I know you will enjoy working with Paula, and I look forward to introducing her around the university.

David
