October 21, 2011 Good morning. As an international conversation continues to coalesce around Occupy Wall Street, I am proud that The New School will host a teach-in tomorrow at 66 West 12th Street beginning at 11 a.m. I encourage you to participate. True to The New School's history as a home for free inquiry and discussion, this is an opportunity to explore questions of inequality and access with peers from across the university. A schedule of educational activities, many led by New School students and faculty, continues to evolve. Updates will be available here. I am very proud that many members of our community have taken a leadership role in discussions and other activities around the Occupy Wall Street movement, and that The New School can sponsor the teach-in. I applaud our students and faculty alike for their extraordinary efforts organizing a daylong educational event. As always, I urge everyone to gather safely, to remain respectful of one another, and to be emissaries of The New School at this important moment in time. |
