Service Improvement Initiative Update

To the New School Community:

With the end of the semester in sight, I want to thank you all for your energy and effort. It has been an exciting and uplifting first semester for me as I have come to learn precisely how much goes on at The New School.

Thanks to so many of you for attending the Town Hall meeting on May 2. We had a tremendous turnout of interested and active members of The New School community.

I gave a brief update at the meeting on our progress with the Service Improvement Initiative. I am continuing to work closely with Tim Marshall and the deans and officers to identify areas of service that need improvement within the university. In response to a request at the Town Hall, I am posting an Action List of service projects that have been completed, near-term service projects expected to be completed over the summer and early fall, and longer term projects that are being considered. The Service Initiative is a continual work in progress and it will guide our work with the community over the coming academic year and beyond. I will inform you of our progress and accomplishments in the fall and will continue to update you regularly.

I welcome your thoughts regarding the current Action List and all service issues here at The New School. I am depending on you to identify for us other areas of concern.
