Description:
Music History 1 is the first in a series of four one-semester courses that survey the history of Western music, from the earliest notated music in the 9th century to the present. In this course, students will survey music ranging from medieval sacred chant and early polyphony to the music of the Renaissance. Students will be given listening, reading and brief writing assignments, and there will be a midterm and final exam.
