Description:
The semester will conclude with a final thesis performance, in which the student will present to a jury one scene of their choice exhibiting the completed realization of the character he or she has created, followed by an in-depth dialogue with that group about the specific details of the student’s journey, including both the discoveries and the detours along the way. This thesis performance will take place in early February at a date and time to be announced before the There is also a required written thesis, which will not be due until the first day of the second semester, after the winter break. This will hopefully allow the student to more easily focus on the writing assignment without having to worry about the performance at the same time. It will include not only work on the chosen character and the play in question, but whatever other excursions become necessary to complement and complete the work – reading and research into the history of the time, the psychology of the character, working on scenes from other plays by the same author which might illuminate the character in question, etc.
