Placement of this course in the second year of Actor training exemplifies it's function of bridging theory and practice, and of bridging classical and contempory work. Through the thorough understanding understanding of prose and metered text together with the ability of using text, word, meter and rhythm to more fully creat and understand character provides the actor with in valuable craft and tools that will reinforce and strengthen any work asked of them. Through the study of Shakespeare and heightened or poetic text, the actor learnsthat feelings or thoughts are released at the moment of speech. They learn that thoughts driving through the text is an essential part of our preparation of modern work .
