Students will develop and strengthen acting techniques as well as improvisational and devised work exercises in order to be able to execute the building blocks of acting a scene. Students will then marry those exercises with text from published plays to prepare 2 person scenes outside of class from published works which will then be presented in class. The mission is for directors and playwrights to develop a common language and deeper understanding of the actors’ experience when working on a piece of theatre. By accessing vulnerability as an actor and executing text from that standpoint, directors and playwrights will learn how to facilitate communication and understanding between the 3 disciplines.
Students who wish to enroll in a graduate theater course at The New School for Drama must be accepted into the graduate theater program as a full-time student.
Open to Graduate students.
