Michael Chekhov Technique 1 is an introduction to the psycho - physical principles of Michael Chekhov’s acting technique. This class will be addressing specific chapters of Michael Chekhov’s book “To the Actor” and introduce primary principles of this acting approach. Michael Chekhov Technique 1 is primarily exercise-based and lays the groundwork for Michael Chekhov Technique 2, which will apply these principles to working with text as well as to the creation of character. Both courses combined aim to lead the student-actors to a practical understanding of Michael Chekhov’s contribution to the art of acting.
Students who wish to enroll in a graduate theater course at The New School for Drama must be accepted into the graduate theater program as a full-time student.
