In this studio elective students explore the relationship between ideas and physical form. How can a material be shaped to represent not just form but also translate concepts? Using an array of methods and materials students explore the logic, history and production of the handmade object. Projects can include fashioning a tool or object of utility, an urban installation or a conceptual model of a service design. Various methods for prototyping and three-dimensional ideation in relation to a variety of practices will give students the skills to understand how making helps to both give form to, and generate, ideas.
