This course will provide students with an introduction to domestic flatbed knitting equipment, with the goal of building a foundational knowledge of techniques and skills within the context of their own design aesthetic and process. Outcomes may include series of machine knit swatches, representing stitch development or knit garments related to their work. Students will develop their own material language within the context of making, experimentation and technical vocabulary.
Open to: All Parsons and Eugene Lang undergraduate degree students. Pre-requisite(s): PUFD 2003 Integrated Studio 2 or PUFD 2241 Creative Technical Studio 2 OR PAFS 1020 Construction 1: Patternmaking and PAFS 1080 Construction 1: Draping and PAFS 1090 Construction 1: Sewing.
