This course is designed to go beyond the basics of pattern cutting and encourage the development of their own methodologies. By beginning with non-garment based work, the students can explore fashion concepts and design practice outside the constraints of collection building. Emphasis will be given to understanding how to incorporate the foundations of pattern making with experimental techniques to reach places that could only be found through exploratory processes. The students will be learning to answer construction questions that arise when making garments that are not based on traditional techniques.
