Description:
This cross-disciplinary group will address how material choices can create better learning environments for young children that are less likely to cause asthma, allergies or related childhood diseases. Students will learn how materials are manufactured, marketed, evaluated and how healthier materials can be substituted and specified. Using this information and the design proposals, students will employ a variety of media to create communication devices that will help transform public perception about how to improve the health of children indoors. The group will create persuasive presentations that will be presented in a number of different public forums including the NYC Mayors office at the culmination of the Spring 2015 semester. Part of the Building Product Ecosystems initiative.
