- Service Design
- Transdisciplinary Design
This course will critically examine the emerging transdisciplinary practice of service design. Service design is the scripting of interactions between people, in situations from a restaurant to higher education. Designers of services also design the environments (‘servicescapes’) and devices (such as forms or touch-screen terminals) necessary for the delivery of the service. This course will interrogate the power dynamics involved in services, and the way these are obscured by branding and current service design techniques. Students will research existing services and shadow a live service design project in the social services sector.
Open to: All university undergraduate degree students. Strongly recommended for BFA in Integrated Design majors from the Service Design Area of Study.
Open to Undergraduate students.
