How can you apply the design approach to identify and develop opportunities for new services systems? How could unique cultural content inspire new identities for design and service experiences, in particular in the fields of lifestyle and fashion? How can you articulate and test innovation opportunities? How can you develop business models to be integrated into existing structures or new businesses? This course will examine service experiences and service design from a variety of perspectives and challenge students to work independently to envision new service offerings. Students will be guided step by step through the design process, from qualitative and field research through to concept visualization and evaluation. Qualitative understanding will be gathered directly in the city as well as through the web and stakeholders at remote locations globally. Major focus will be on the role of cultural factors for successful service acceptance, also exploring in how far cultural content can engage new service offerings.
