Description:
Tabletop Design is an in-depth studio course that covers elements of tabletop dining from the social and design perspectives. Students will explore the dining experience by viewing tabletop items as social instruments rather than just tools. Students will design and produce tableware products by looking at the history, culture, and human nature of dining. Function, ergonomics, and all five senses will also play key roles in the design process. From casual parties to formal dining, this course will explore the “tabletop” and its elements as an essential aspect of the human experience.
