Description:
Landscape should not only be considered a genre but more a medium. The history of Landscape art crosses from literature, poetry, painting, performance, photography and now video. This studio-seminar format class focuses on researching the photographic history of landscape and how it is used in the creation of contemporary art. Lectures and readings present a base of discussion and research. Students are expected to stay on top of the readings and be prepared to discuss them every week in class. Students are also expected to have a one presentation, a research paper that follows the presentation as well as a final portfolio of images.
