This course is aimed toward giving students the range of skills and experience necessary to employ and control the unique depictive capabilities provided by the view camera. Topics covered include using the view cameras tilt, swing, shift and rise movements to control focus, perspective and image shape. Specialized techniques are coupled with historical antecedents and the conceptual approaches by a range of photographic practitioners. Students also learn advanced exposure techniques and advanced black and white printing controls as they apply to the large format process.
