Description:
Starting with the experimental practices of Happenings and Fluxus, this course traces developments in the art of the sixties and seventies, and their impact on current art. In examining the rise of new, alternative mediums and interdisciplinary forms of working, the course explores how artists responded to broader cultural, social, political and technological shifts in the process of redefining the object of art, its relation to audience, the role of the artist, and the sites and functions of art.

Open to: All university undergraduate degree students. Pre-requisite(s): first-year university wrting course, and at least two prior history or methods course in art, media, film, or visual culture. One of these courses should be 3000-level.
