The development of new forms of urban practice requires radical challenges to mainstream perspectives on what is business, management, economics and organization vis a vis the growing demands for more inclusive and collectivized urban structures for the common good. Under these new forms, economic sustainability and profit are about the construction of redistribution frameworks, social relations and responsibility. Countering the normal techniques for managements, students will develop many alternative approaches to understanding how to manage their professional practice and it role to contemporary social, economic and political organizations. Using complementary disciplines such as design management, sociology, political economy, history, anthropology and political studies, the course objective will be to work with the student to position and design their professional viability within the emerging urban landscapes.
