Students conduct an advanced interrogation of design and urban practice through a series of guest speakers that challenge conventional notions of design practice. Guest speakers are innovative and alternative practitioners from the realms of art, social sciences, political advocacy, legal fields, transportation, as well as those who have created radical shifts in conventionally-understood practices such as urban design, city planning, and real estate development, especially with community and non-profit groups. Colloquium topics include contemporary urban politics, spatial justice, environmentalism, and activism.

Open to: All university graduate degree students; advanced undergraduates by permission of MS Design and Urban Ecologies or MA Theories of Urban Practice program. Pre-requisite(s): PGUD 5105 Urban Colloquium 1.
