This site-line study abroad course enables fashion students the opportunity to work together in an environment that simulates the daily activities of a merchandiser and designer. The course includes a two-week excursion to select cities in Italy to visit fashion companies, artisans, museums, textile mills, a vintage fair, and attend an industry trade show. Students explore Italy’s rich history and culture as they search the market for raw materials, treasures, inspiration and fashion trends. This course affords matriculated degree candidates the opportunity to apply skills learned in their academic program in New York to a real world context and to familiarize them specifically with the fashion industry in Italy.
