This course is an Intermediate Conversation course. Students will be introduced to Latin American culture through its most representative and famous TV production, la Telenovela. We will look at different characters and themes of Telenovelas such as forbidden love, sex, economy, drug addiction, discrimination and immigration, etc. Students will watch selections from major TV networks from Mexico (Televisa), Brazil (O’Globo), Venezuela (Venevision Intern.), and recent US productions of telenovelas through Univision. Students will learn to identify the key elements of a story and other issues revealing likes and dislikes of the Latino community. At the end of the course, students will be ready to write their own pilot season. PREREQUISITE: Intermediate 1, Spanish 4 or the equivalent.
