This course is the same as NSOS0841, plus online discussions and research projects for credit students. "It's easier to to look the other way and not cover the issue," says an investigative reporter in one of the documentaries to be shown in this series. We follow the stories of individuals engaged in the struggle for truth and justice, and their commitment to breaking cycles of violence and inhumanity. . As one declares: "The function of memory is not simply to record past events but to stimulate conscience." The following are some of the films to be shown and discussed in class: The Thin Blue Line, After Innocence, Reportero, Private Violence, Enemies of Happiness, We Come as Friends, Return to Homes, E-Team, Watchers of the Sky.
