In this capstone course we study the historical development of psychology, ranging from ideas about the “mind” in Antiquity, the Enlightenment, and beyond. We critically examine key historical and social events, people who shaped the field, the philosophical underpinnings of the discipline, and we consider when and why psychology became a science. This course has a large online component, and requires group-designed final presentations.
