Description:
This course introduces financial statements and concepts and is designed for students with no prior knowledge of the subject. We look at how statements (profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow, etc.) are used in business operations, how businesses of various sizes finance their growth, and how governance practices affect financial health. Case studies from financial and business news enable students to grapple with issues such as profit delivery, return on investment, and the stock and bond markets. Humorous and dramatic excerpts from television and film enliven our discussion of these topics.
